Roomkeis is an online apartment finder that offers future tenants a platform to view and book tours. Roomkeis provides an all-in-one platform for homeowners to list and rent their property.

Problem Space
Current online platforms provides an inefficient search functioning system for browsing apartments and potential roommates.
Goals
- Provide an accessible and easy approach to finding and renting homes that can satisfy and enhance the experiences of all platform users.
- Focus towards college students to help connect and build connections by finding potential roommates.
- Enhanced search functioning system that allows users to directly contact homeowners and original posters.
1. Understanding the user
User Research: Summary
I conducted user interviews to further understand our targets users and their needs. Many of our target users, generally college students tend to find the process of apartment searching very stress. In adjacent to their studies, students would have to find apartments during exam season which adds additional stress.
2. Starting the design
Navigation and efficient search functionality were our primary goals used to relieve our users pain points.
We started off by designing a sitemap for our website's main functionality to address these pain points.
Wireframes
Paper wireframes were designed to address user pain points found during user research.
Designs were then implemented into AdobeXD with the goal on resolving user pain points.
Low-fidelity prototyping and testing.
lo-fi prototypeAll screens designed are involved in the primary user flow that was tested during user research.
Feedback on users were focused primarily on information architecture and navigation.
3. Refining the design
Pain points
- Users felt that there were too many screens to navigate to book a tour.
- Navigation was unclear for some users while traversing through the user flow.
- A few button placements were unclear for the user.
Changes
- Condense multiple screens into a form like design allowing for a more cleaner and efficient experience.
- Visual elements were adjusted to allow users to feel more connected with the flow.
- Search map buttons and filters were added and adjusted for a more cleaner look and navigation.
Mockups
To ensure Roomkeis is accessible for our users I considered possible accessibility elements that were implemented.
Takeaways and Next steps
Impact:
- Users felt the website was fairly easy to navigate while perofrming user flows.
- The overall information allowed for a more intuitive information to be presented to the user.
What I learned:
- Learned the importance of information architect,
i.e. button, text, and image placements can greatly affect what the user experiences. - Minor adjustments may seem small but can have a greater impact on the overall user flow.
- Empathizing more on the users at hand allows for a better design solution in future iterations.
